The Body Shop Estimator – Heavy Truck & Equipment is responsible for preparing accurate repair estimates for heavy trucks, trailers, and commercial equipment. This role requires strong experience with insurance-related repairs, including damage assessments, coordination with insurance adjusters, and managing estimates through to final invoicing. The Estimator works closely with body shop technicians, management, customers, and insurers to ensure repairs are completed efficiently, accurately, and in compliance with insurance and company standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Inspect and assess collision and damage-related repairs on heavy trucks, trailers, and equipment
- Prepare detailed and accurate repair estimates, including labour, materials, and parts
- Manage insurance claims, including communication and negotiation with insurance adjusters
- Create and maintain work orders from estimate approval through job completion
- Review and process supplements, change orders, and final invoices
- Ensure repair work aligns with approved estimates and insurance requirements
- Coordinate with body shop technicians to support efficient job flow
- Maintain complete and accurate documentation for insurance, internal records, and audits
- Communicate repair timelines and updates to customers and insurers
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Body Shop Estimator, preferably in heavy truck, commercial vehicle, or equipment repair
- Strong understanding of insurance claim processes and repair authorization requirements
- Ability to accurately assess damage and determine appropriate repair methods
- Experience with estimating software (Audatex, Mitchell, or similar) is considered an asset
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- High level of attention to detail and organization
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced body shop environment
