Position Summary
Cannabis Hut Ltd. is seeking a dependable, customer-focused, and detail-oriented Retail Sales Associate (Budtender) to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for delivering exceptional customer service while ensuring the store operates efficiently and remains compliant with all Ontario cannabis regulations.
The ideal candidate is comfortable working with computers and retail software, as a significant portion of the role involves using point-of-sale (POS) and inventory management systems. You will be expected to accurately count and reconcile inventory, receive and process shipments, maintain inventory records, and assist with regular inventory audits. Strong organizational skills are essential, as you will be responsible for stocking and organizing shelves, ensuring product displays are neat, fully stocked, accurately labeled, and visually appealing.
In addition to inventory responsibilities, you will educate customers on cannabis products, provide personalized product recommendations, process transactions accurately, verify government-issued identification, and maintain a clean, welcoming shopping environment. We are looking for someone who is reliable, organized, eager to learn, and able to balance excellent customer service with operational responsibilities in a fast-paced retail setting.
Key Responsibilities
Customer Service
- Welcome every customer with a friendly, professional, and knowledgeable attitude.
- Build positive relationships by providing personalized product recommendations based on customer preferences and needs.
- Educate customers on cannabis products, including flower, pre-rolls, edibles, concentrates, vapes, beverages, oils, topicals, and accessories.
- Answer customer questions while remaining compliant with all AGCO and Ontario Cannabis Store (OCS) regulations.
- Resolve customer concerns professionally and escalate issues to management when necessary.
Inventory Management & Store Operations
- Receive, verify, and process incoming inventory shipments accurately using the store's inventory management system.
- Count inventory daily, weekly, and monthly to ensure inventory accuracy and assist with scheduled inventory audits.
- Investigate and report inventory discrepancies, damaged products, and missing items.
- Organize, rotate, and restock products according to company standards and inventory procedures.
- Ensure shelves, displays, and storage areas remain organized, fully stocked, properly labeled, and visually appealing.
Computer & Administrative Tasks
- Confidently use point-of-sale (POS), inventory management, and computer systems to complete daily tasks.
- Process sales transactions accurately, including cash, debit, and credit card payments.
- Complete inventory adjustments, product transfers, and receiving documentation using company software.
- Assist with daily reports, cash reconciliation, and opening/closing administrative procedures.
Compliance & Security
- Verify valid government-issued identification for every customer in accordance with Ontario cannabis regulations.
- Ensure all cannabis sales comply with AGCO regulations, company policies, and responsible retail practices.
- Follow all security procedures related to cannabis handling, storage, cash management, and loss prevention.
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
Store Maintenance
- Keep the sales floor, back room, and storage areas clean, organized, and presentable.
- Maintain attractive, compliant product displays and merchandising standards.
- Assist with opening and closing duties, including cleaning, stocking, cash balancing, and security checks.
Teamwork
- Work collaboratively with team members to maintain an efficient and positive work environment.
- Participate in ongoing product education and training sessions.
- Support coworkers during busy periods and contribute to achieving store sales and operational goals.
- Communicate effectively with management regarding inventory, customer feedback, and operational improvements.
Qualifications Required
- Must meet the legal age requirement to work in cannabis retail in Ontario.
- Ability to obtain and maintain any required cannabis retail certifications.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities.
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and flexible shifts.
Preferred
- Previous retail, hospitality, or customer service experience.
- Cannabis retail experience is considered a strong asset.
- Knowledge of cannabis products, strains, terpenes, cannabinoids, and consumption methods.
- Experience using POS and inventory management systems.
- Previous experience handling cash and balancing tills.
