We are seeking an enthusiastic, passionate casual supply RECE staff. This individual must be available to work split shifts, pre-planned vacation, as well as last minute illness coverage. There is no minimum hours per week, however our centre uses our own supply staff before reaching out to agencies, so there is potential for hours weekly.
The Supply RECE collaborates closely with all other members of the program team to provide nurturing care and education to young children in a group setting, under the supervision of the Centre Supervisor and Assistant Supervisor; in accordance with the goals and curriculum plans of the Centre and the philosophy and policies of the agency and in compliance with the Day CCEYA Child Care and Early Years Act, 2014
Qualifications:
- Registered with and maintains in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators at all times. Proof of membership must be provided annually.
- Adherence to the legislative regulations and duties set out for an Early Childhood Educator under the current Ontario Child Care and Early Years Act
- Adherence to the Professional Responsibilities and Code of Conduct set out by the Ontario College of Early Childhood Educators, including but not limited to the Conflict of Interest Policy and the Confidentiality Policy
- Certified in Standard First Aid and CPR-C training
- Clear Criminal Reference Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening
- Experience working with kindergarten and school age children
Principle Duties & Responsibilities:
- Responsible for reviewing and understanding childrens Individual Medical Plans, Allergy/Food Restrictions lists, and administering Epipens and medications (in accordance with medication administration documentation and guidelines)
- Is aware of, clearly understands, and abides by Centre policies, procedures, and philosophy statement
- Is flexible with their availability, is able to cover last minute sick coverage and work split shifts
- Is ready for work in the classroom by the start of scheduled shift. Having your personal belongings put away and are in the room/playground ready to work. This includes dressing and/or preparing for the scheduled activity and the weather
- Has a positive attitude toward children, parents/guardians, and coworkers
- Maintain a professional appearance at all times, assume responsibility for own actions and behaviour at work. (See employee handbook regarding social media and personal appearance)
- Is punctual and reliable. For personal emergencies staff must notify the Supervisor/Assistant Supervisor of any absences as early as possible.
- Responsible for the health, safety, and well being of the children for which they are providing care for. Must maintain supervision of children at all times
- Responsible for documenting the children’s attendance each day. Ensuring all children are signing in and out each day
- Demonstrates knowledge of the Early Learning and Care Assessment for Quality Improvement and ensures they are in compliance at all times
- Has understanding and is able to implement the four foundations of How Does Learning Happen through observations, reflections, documentation
- Conducts fair and consistent behavior guidance methods in accordance with the programs Behavior Management Policy
- Recognizes and responds to the needs of each child by using developmentally appropriate teaching and child behaviour management techniques. This is including but not limited to: modelling, observing, questioning, demonstrating, and reinforcing
- Works cooperatively as a member of the childcare team, facilitating a team environment through professional behaviour, work contributions and the sharing of expertise and knowledge. Act as a role model of appropriate behaviour
- Maintain regular, effective, and open communication with team members, Supervisor, Assistant Supervisor, in a positive and professional manner
- Administers first aid as required, completes accident/incident reports, records accidents/incidents in the daily log and playground log (where required), provides reports to the Supervisor/ Assistant Supervisor to review and sign
