Dual Trade Technician (442A Industrial Electrician + 433A Industrial Millwright)
Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Dual Trade Technician (442A Industrial Electrician & 433A Industrial Millwright) to join our maintenance team in a fast-paced pet food manufacturing facility. The successful candidate will be responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical and mechanical equipment to ensure maximum production efficiency, equipment reliability, and food safety compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Electrical Responsibilities (442A Industrial Electrician)
- Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain industrial electrical systems, machinery, and equipment.
- Install, test, and commission electrical components, motors, sensors, VFDs, PLCs, HMIs, and control systems.
- Diagnose electrical faults using testing equipment and implement effective repairs.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical drawings.
- Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on electrical equipment.
- Ensure all electrical work complies with the Ontario Electrical Safety Code and company safety standards.
Mechanical Responsibilities (433A Industrial Millwright)
- Install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain production machinery and processing equipment.
- Perform equipment alignment, shaft alignment, bearing replacement, gearbox repairs, conveyor maintenance, and hydraulic and pneumatic system repairs.
- Dismantle, rebuild, and install pumps, motors, conveyors, mixers, packaging equipment, and other processing machinery.
- Perform welding, fabrication, and machining as required.
- Conduct preventive maintenance and equipment inspections to minimize downtime.
- Identify root causes of equipment failures and implement corrective actions.
Food Manufacturing Responsibilities
- Maintain and repair processing, packaging, conveying, and material handling equipment used in pet food production.
- Ensure equipment operates efficiently while maintaining food quality and production standards.
- Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), HACCP, sanitation, and food safety requirements.
- Support production during equipment changeovers and emergency breakdowns.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and complete work orders using the CMMS system.
- Collaborate with production, quality, sanitation, and engineering teams to improve equipment performance.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to increase equipment reliability and reduce downtime.
Qualifications
- Valid 442A Industrial Electrician Certificate of Qualification.
- Valid 433A Industrial Millwright Certificate of Qualification.
- Minimum 3–5 years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment (food or pet food manufacturing preferred).
- Strong knowledge of PLC troubleshooting (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or similar), VFDs, HMIs, sensors, motors, and industrial controls.
- Experience maintaining conveyors, mixers, packaging equipment, pumps, gearboxes, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic drawings.
- Experience using CMMS software for maintenance scheduling and documentation.
- Knowledge of Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), GMP, HACCP, and workplace safety regulations.
- Welding, fabrication, and machining experience is considered an asset.
- Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced production environment.
Working Conditions
- Manufacturing environment with exposure to machinery, noise, dust, and varying temperatures.
- Comfortable working around pet food ingredients, including raw meat products, strong odors, and food-processing equipment.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physically demanding tasks.
- Availability to work rotating shifts, weekends, overtime, and respond to emergency breakdowns when required.
Preferred Skills
- Dual-ticket certification (442A & 433A).
- Experience in food, beverage, pet food, or consumer packaged goods (CPG) manufacturing.
- Knowledge of robotic automation and packaging equipment.

Pay: $46.00-$48.00 per hour
