Role: Assistant Production Manager
Salary: $80,000 – $100,000/year
Schedule: Flexible (no fixed shift; evenings, weekends, and on-call support required)

Experience Required:
10–15 years of manufacturing experience
Minimum 5 years in food/bakery industry (preferred)
Job Summary: Reporting to the Operations Manager, this role plays a critical leadership function in ensuring bakery production runs smoothly, efficiently, and safely. You will oversee Supervisors and production teams, ensuring accountability, performance alignment, and continuous improvement across operations, while maintaining high standards of food safety, quality, and productivity.
Key Responsibilities:
Production & Operations Management
- Coordinate and oversee daily production schedules based on orders, forecasts, and delivery timelines
- Monitor real-time production flow and resolve issues to minimize downtime
- Ensure ERP accuracy for production, shipping, and invoicing processes
- Verify completion and accuracy of production documentation
- Support planning, forecasting, and operational target achievement
Leadership & Team Management
- Provide strong, hands-on leadership on the production floor
- Coach and develop Supervisors and production teams
- Drive accountability, performance management, and operational discipline
- Oversee staffing, scheduling, onboarding, and training
- Conduct performance reviews and support employee development
- Partner with HR/People & Culture on employee relations, investigations, and attendance management
- Foster a high-performance, team-oriented culture
Food Safety, Quality & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with HACCP, GMP, and food safety standards
- Monitor Critical Control Points (CCPs) including metal detection and flour sifting
- Enforce sanitation, pre-operational checks, and audit readiness
- Support product recalls and CAPA processes
- Ensure full compliance with regulatory and internal policies
Quality Control & Product Integrity
- Verify product quality (weights, packaging, labeling, shelf-life)
- Ensure proper handling of fresh and frozen bakery products
- Approve finished product release and maintain quality standards
Continuous Improvement & Systems
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives and operational projects
- Maintain and optimize ERP systems (e.g., Microsoft Business Central)
- Monitor OEE and key performance metrics
- Conduct system/data audits to ensure accuracy and efficiency
- Support training on new equipment, systems, and processes
