Job Summary
The City of White Rock is looking to hire a Contract Volleyball Instructor to support sports instruction for recreational and intermediate level co-ed adult programming at White Rock Elementary School.
In this role, you will plan, implement, and lead engaging sports activities for adult participants. The successful candidate will ensure the safe and proper use of equipment and facilities while taking initiative and working independently to deliver assigned programs. Duties
Job may include but is not limited to:
- Plan and deliver engaging volleyball instruction tailored to adult participants of varying skill levels.
- Lead organized games, drills, and skill-building exercises to improve technique and teamwork.
- Ensure all activities are conducted safely, adhering to facility guidelines and safety protocols.
- Provide clear demonstrations of volleyball skills and techniques, offering constructive feedback to participants.
- Foster an inclusive, motivating environment that encourages participation, sportsmanship, and enjoyment.
- Monitor participant progress and adapt instruction methods accordingly to meet diverse needs.
- Maintain equipment, set up courts for sessions, and ensure the cleanliness and safety of the playing area.
Skills
- Proven experience in teaching volleyball or coaching adult sports teams with enthusiasm and clarity.
- Strong understanding of volleyball rules, techniques, and strategies suitable for adult learners.
- Excellent communication skills to motivate participants and provide clear instructions
- Energetic attitude with the ability to inspire teamwork and promote a positive atmosphere.
- Organizational skills to plan sessions effectively and manage multiple groups simultaneously.
- Commitment to safety standards and creating an inclusive environment where all participants feel welcome.
Minimum Qualifications
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to create a welcoming and inclusive environment for adult participants.
- Enthusiastic, personable, and energetic, with a passion for community recreation and participant engagement.
- Experience planning and leading volleyball programs for adults, preferably in a municipal recreation or gymnasium setting.
- Availability to work Monday and Wednesday evenings 7:00-9:00pm.
- First Aid & CPR C certification (see below).

- Red Cross
- Lifesaving Society
- St John’s Ambulance
- Heart & Stroke Foundation
- Canadian Ski Patrol
Preferred Qualifications
- Other applicable certifications such as NCCP.
Pay rate: $33.00 to 35.00 per hour
