Title: Hospitality Support Specialist
Salary: $5,203.33 - $6,121.56 per month
Location: 1645 Inkster Blvd, Winnipeg MB. This position requires extensive travel throughout the Arctic (up to 75 days per year).

Position Summary
The Hospitality Support Specialist is responsible for providing operational support, training, and strategic guidance across all hospitality operations within the Arctic Co-operatives system, including Inns North hotel properties and associated food service operations (hotel restaurants, Tundra Take-Out & Diners, & Co-op Express).
This role works collaboratively with Home Office teams, Member Co-ops, District Support Advisors, and on-site management to ensure consistent brand standards, operational efficiency, and financial performance. The Specialist plays a key role in developing, implementing, and sustaining programs related to hotel and food service operations, training, and guest experience, while supporting continuous improvement across the network.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Operational Support & Standards
- Conduct operational reviews of hotel and food service locations, develop action plans, and monitor progress against brand standards and operational objectives.
- Support on-site operations during peak periods, transitions, or staffing challenges.
- Collaborate with General Managers, Hotel Managers, Kitchen Managers, and District Support Advisors to ensure consistency and performance.
- Maintain and evaluate Inns North and Food Service standards, recommending improvements where needed.
Program Development & Implementation
- Develop, update, and implement operational programs across both hotel and food service environments, including:
o Menus, recipes, and costing tools
o Inventory management systems and order guides
o Cleaning standards and operational checklists
o Standard decor, signage, uniforms, and marketing materials
o Standard Operation Procedures
- Support roll-out of new initiatives through site visits, training, and follow-up evaluations.
- Maintain accurate operational databases, including food/labor costs, margins, and logistics information for each location.
Training & Development
- Develop and deliver training programs for hotel and food service staff, including onboarding, operational procedures, and systems training as well as ongoing day to day operational support to existing management and staff;
- Provide in-person and virtual training on hotel property management systems and restaurant POS systems.
- Create and maintain training materials in collaboration with internal departments.
Financial Performance & Analysis
- Assist in the development of budgets for hotel and food service operations.
- Monitor financial performance, including food and labour costs, and work with local management to improve profitability.
- Analyze operational data and develop action plans to improve financial outcomes.
Marketing & Brand Support
- Collaborate with Marketing & Communications to promote Inns North and Food Service brands.
- Contribute to website content, promotional programs, and brand initiatives.
- Represent the organization at trade shows, conferences, and industry events.
Compliance & Administration
- Ensure all licensing, health and safety, and regulatory requirements are met for hotel and food service operations.
- Support inventory management, purchasing, and merchandising processes.
- Maintain policies and procedures and recommend updates as required.
- Provide regular progress, travel, and operational reports.
Continuous Improvement & Strategic Support
- Evaluate industry trends in hospitality and food services and recommend new initiatives.
- Support long-term program development and alignment across all locations.
Qualifications
- 5–7 years of experience in hotel operations and/or food services, combined experience is an asset.
- Post-secondary education in hospitality management or culinary arts is an asset.
- Proficiency with hotel property management systems and restaurant POS systems.
- Strong financial expertise, including budgeting, cost control and ability to analyze financial results and develop action plans to improve profitability
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations, including safe food handling practices.
- Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Office, virtual collaboration tools).
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Experience developing and delivering training programs, both in person and virtually.
- Ability to work effectively in a cross-cultural environment.
- Ability to travel extensively throughout the Arctic (up to 75 days per year).
