Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Prioritize daily vehicle work orders to ensure timely repair.
- Maintain a clean and safe-working environment.
- Determine action to be taken on all truck and trailer breakdowns.
- Understand and follow federal, provincial and local regulations such as those governing the disposal of hazardous waste.
- Assist in the safety and compliance of the shop work and work force and assist in audits and inspections.
- Assist in achieving departmental accountability measures
Qualifications:
- 3-5+ years truck repair experience. (Diesel mechanic experience preferred)
- Thorough knowledge of tractor, trailer and tanker equipment maintenance with heavy emphasis on diesel engine maintenance and repair.
- Ability to effectively plan and coordinate preventive maintenance strategies for transportation equipment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Working knowledge and experience with maintenance computerized maintenance management systems as well as Microsoft Excel and Word.

- Troubleshooting: Bearing, Seals and packing, Specialty welding, and Stainless steel welding

- Electrical and electronic controls
- Fans and blowers
- Power tools
- Welding equipment
- Pumps and compressors
Specific Skills
- Detect and troubleshoot irregularities and malfunctions
- Repair or replace defective machinery parts
- Fabricate parts required during overhaul
- maintenance or set-up, Perform routine maintenance work on machinery
- Operate machining tools to fabricate parts
- Installing machinery and equipment
Schedule: Day shift - Monday to Friday

- Guelph, ON: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
Experience:
- truck repair: 3 years (preferred)
- tractor, trailer and tanker maintenance: 1 year (preferred)
- Diesel mechanic: 1 year (preferred)
