As a key member of the estimating team, you will be responsible for building estimates and competing to win the most challenging construction projects the industry has to offer.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Estimate project costs and submit tenders specific to Civil Construction projects using the appropriate methodology
- Prepare tender packages
- Handle estimate changes where required
- Solicit pricing from multiple vendors for materials and equipment
- Solicit subcontractors for various scopes of work
- Work with project and field staff as a team to review the project documents and discuss labour requirements and staffing
- Develop project schedules
- Develop a plan and answer questions regarding resource application and construction methodology for each estimate
- Interact with key clients during opportunity development and beyond
- Ensure that all safety and environmental requirements of the operations are met.
Qualifications and Experience:
- 3+ years of progressive experience in construction cost estimating with specific Civil construction experience.
- Thorough knowledge of pipe types and fittings is preferred.
- General construction knowledge; understanding specifications, methods, and procedures.
- Knowledge of civil engineering design and planning principles/procedures
- Ability to develop and present construction estimates
- Ability to read plans, schematics, shop drawings, specifications, and technical manuals
- Ability to negotiate and manage purchasing arrangements
- Knowledge of all types of contracts including Unit Price, Fixed Price, Cost Plus
- Knowledge of local building codes, specifications, regulations; as well as safety regulations and policies
- Ability to perform site inspections for the purposes of estimating
- Advanced computer skills with the ability to use relevant project management and design software. Previous Experience using B2W software would be an asset
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with a wide variety of people
- A keen ability to adapt to and manage change to ensure the continued success of a dynamic, growing company.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements:
- The work environment includes a variety of office, shop, and field site settings
Education:
- University Degree or Technology Diploma in Civil Engineering or equivalent
- A combination of education and experience would be considered
- Various safety certificates
- Additional education or work experience is considered an asset.
