Labourer/Technician

SUMMARY
As a member of the field crew, the Labourer/Technician contributes directly to the cured-in-place pipe (CIPP) installation process, supporting the hands-on rehabilitation of sanitary and storm water systems. Reporting to the Superintendent and/or Foreman, this position assists with site setup, equipment staging, confined space work, traffic control, and general labour activities to support safe and efficient project execution. The position works closely with the field crew to deliver high-quality infrastructure rehabilitation projects.
RESPONSIBILITIES
· Work effectively with Superintendent, Foremen, Operators, and all crew members to ensure successful rehabilitation and repair of sanitary and storm water lines.
· Assist with loading, unloading, staging, and setup of traffic control devices, safety equipment, and CIPP installation equipment.
· Support CIPP liner installation and curing activities under the direction of the Superintendent and/or Foremen.
· Assist with driving and backing up various company vehicles and equipment including 1-ton pickups, flusher trucks, CCTV trucks, boilers, reefers, and vactors.
· Perform confined space entry work including entering manholes to assist with liner trimming, removal, and installation activities.
· Direct and assist operators during liner inversion and curing operations.
· Ensure work sites are maintained in a clean, organized, and safe condition before leaving the site.
· Conduct hazard assessments and report safety concerns or equipment deficiencies to Supervisors.
· Complete assigned paperwork, safety documentation, and quality control checks as required.
· Maintain tools and equipment in good operating condition through cleaning, organizing, and basic maintenance activities.
· Comply with all company, client, and regulatory safety procedures and policies.
· Perform other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
· Experience in physical labour positions and/or outdoor construction environments preferred.
· Previous experience in underground construction, municipal infrastructure, or pipeline rehabilitation is considered an asset.
· Valid driver’s license required; Class 3 or Class 1 license preferred or willingness to obtain Class 3 within 6 months of hire (company support available).
· Ability to enter and work in confined spaces.
· Strong commitment to safety and ability to follow established procedures and policies.
· Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
· Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
· 1st Aid, CSTS, TDG, Confined Space, and WHMIS safety tickets are considered assets.
· Must be physically capable of performing demanding outdoor work in varying weather conditions.
· Willingness to work overtime as required.
· Ability to travel out of town approximately 65% of the time (35% local work; 65% out-of-town rotations of 3 weeks on/1 week off).
