The Gust Gallery is seeking an enthusiastic and professional individual to join our team as a Sales Associate. We are looking for someone to work Part Time, Sundays from 10 AM - 6 PM with the opportunity to occasionally work other shifts as well.
Job Summary
We are seeking personable and detail-oriented Gallery Sales Associates to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a key role in providing exceptional customer service, managing sales transactions, and supporting the daily operations of our gallery. This position offers an opportunity to engage with art enthusiasts and visitors while developing skills in retail sales, merchandising, gallery curating, and technical demonstrations.
This position combines sales and customer service in a welcoming gallery environment.
Responsibilities
This position blends art appreciation, storytelling, sales, and customer service. You will:
- Greet visitors warmly and provide excellent customer service to enhance their gallery experience
- Assist with product demonstrations and explain artwork or merchandise features effectively
- Manage sales transactions accurately using POS systems, including cash handling and receipts
- Upsell products or artworks to maximize sales opportunities while maintaining customer satisfaction
- Maintain organized merchandising displays that highlight featured artworks or products
- Maintain the visual presentation and organization of the gallery
- Ensure the gallery remains clean, organized, and welcoming at all times
- Handle phone inquiries professionally, providing information about exhibitions, events, or products
- Support inventory management by tracking stock levels and assisting with restocking as needed
- Share knowledge of our artists and their work in an engaging and approachable way
- Support sales through attentive, personalized service
- Assist with hanging artwork, packaging pieces for shipment, and general gallery upkeep
- Operate the point-of-sale system
- Work closely and collaboratively with the team to ensure smooth daily operations
Requirements
- While prior gallery experience is not required, a genuine interest in art and some foundational knowledge of artists and artwork is essential.
- Strong communication skills in English; bilingual abilities are a plus for engaging diverse visitors
- Previous experience in retail sales, merchandising, or customer service is preferred
- Familiarity with POS systems, cash handling, and basic math for transaction processing
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Demonstrated ability to perform product demos and upsell effectively to customers
- Strong phone etiquette and interpersonal skills for engaging visitors and handling inquiries professionally
- Ability to work well independently and as part of a team in a dynamic setting

Schedule
- Part-Time: Sunday 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM, with additional hours available as well.
