The Role
We are looking for a permanent, year-round Barista who can become one of the steady, familiar faces of Kimberley Café & Social House after the summer season.
This is not a short-term seasonal role. We are looking for the right person to train, support, and build with over time. Our hope is that this becomes a long-term role for someone who enjoys hospitality, takes pride in their work, and wants to be part of a café that is growing into the community.
Previous barista experience is an asset, but it is not required. We can train the right person on espresso, drink preparation, café routines, and our service standards. What matters most is reliability, warmth, attention to detail, and a genuine comfort working with guests throughout the day.
What You’ll Do
- Prepare and serve espresso drinks, drip coffee, teas, cold beverages, and seasonal specialty drinks.
- Provide friendly, attentive service and help create a welcoming experience for every guest.
- Learn and follow our drink recipes, café standards, and service routines.
- Process orders and payments accurately through the POS system, including cash handling.
- Assist with light food preparation, including sandwiches, salads, baked goods, and grab-and-go items.
- Keep the bar, prep areas, guest areas, and café space clean, stocked, and organized.
- Restock supplies and communicate with the Café Manager when items are running low.
- Follow food safety, cleanliness, and quality standards.
- Work respectfully and cooperatively with the rest of the café team.
What We’re Looking For
We are looking for someone who is:
- Friendly, reliable, and comfortable working with people.
- Naturally hospitable and able to create a warm guest experience.
- Looking for a permanent role that continues beyond the summer season.
- Available to work through the fall and winter.
- Comfortable with a schedule that may vary during the week.
- Available to work weekends on a regular basis.
- Able to reliably start early morning shifts.
- Organized and able to multitask during busy periods.
- Willing to learn our coffee program, drink standards, and café routines.
- Comfortable working in a small team environment.
Previous experience in a café, restaurant, bakery, retail, hospitality, or customer service environment is helpful, but not required.
Food Handler Certification is an asset, or must be obtained within 60 days of starting.
Schedule
- Permanent, year-round role.
- Part-time hours to start, with potential for additional hours.
- Early morning availability required.
- Regular weekend availability required.
- Weekday shifts may vary based on café needs.
- Availability after the summer season is required.
