Position Summary:
Reporting to the Site Manager, the Concierge – performs various tasks and works alone. This position is responsible to provide hourly check-ins to ensure health and safety of self and residents. The overall focus of the position is resident safety, hospitality and building security. If this position is working alone concierge staff will have a paid break (30 minutes), given the work hours/working alone and will not be permitted to leave the building and must be in view of the main door as much as possible, in the event of an emergency.
This position will:

- Collaborate effectively as a professional team player, supporting the achievement of Covenant’s Mission, Vision, and Values
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensures individual resident needs and preferences are addressed in regards to hospitality services
- First responder to emergency calls
- Responds to scheduled and unscheduled service requests from residents for assistance which includes but not limited to escorts to meals/activities, wake-up calls, wellness check, etc.
- Follows the tenant Service Plan and Managed Risk Agreement when delivering optional support services and hospitality services
- Reports changes in functional capacity, mood or health status to the Site Manager or designate
- Resident Accident/Incident reporting
- Performs delegated tasks in support of tenant personal care
- Adheres to all infection control practices and procedures
- Performs clerical duties including, but not limited to updating resident census, service requests, guest meal tracking and communication logs, 24-hour shift report
- Ensures all Covenant Living policies are adhered to Participates in program planning and evaluation and in Quality Improvement activities
- Responsible to take all reasonable steps to ensure a safe environment for residents and self and in accordance with Covenant Care/Living’s ‘Working Alone’ policy including check-in calls with Evanston Summit
- Complete the Concierge daily checklist Responsible to continuously carry Concierge cell phone
- Other Duties as Assigned by Site Manager or designate
Qualifications:
- This position requires a minimum Grade 12 education, food safety certificate, First Aid & CPR certification
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office products and desktop publishing programs
- 5 years of direct experience within a service/hospitality industry is preferred
- Ability to show initiative, work alone and independently without supervision, able to set priorities, self-motivated, able to work under pressure and deal with people in a conflict situation
- Knowledge of and ability to make decisions conforming to Covenant Living’s established policies and procedures
- Ability to maintain good working relations with staff, public and outside agencies
- Exceptional organizational, interpersonal, problem solving, time management and communication skills
- Proficient in handling multiple priorities and adapting quickly to an ever-changing environment
- Flexibility with changes in the organization and maintains a positive outlook
