Position Summary:
The position is responsible for delivering high-quality education for future fire service professionals (Pre-service Fireghting Students).
Primary Responsibilities and Duties:
● Facilitate and teach assigned courses and subjects according to the College curriculum and in accordance with the defined course standards and outcomes.
● Conduct student evaluations.
● Create a positive learning environment that accommodates students’ diverse cultural and educational backgrounds, experiences, and individual learning styles.
● Utilize principles of adult education to actively engage students in the learning process.
● Work collaboratively, and effectively with students, the management team, and a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
● Maintain behavior and actions consistent with College policies.
● Continue professional development and growth according to personal needs and certification requirements
● Provide input on the continuous improvement activities for the College.
Qualifications:
Preference will be given to candidates with relevant educational credentials and a proven track record of relevant work/teaching experience. Applicants must have the appropriate credentials and experience to be able to instruct on NFPA Programs.
● Minimum of five years of firefighting experience.
● NFPA 1001 Firefighter Level I and Level II.
● NFPA 1072/470 Hazmat Awareness & Hazmat Operations.
● Certified NFPA 1041 Fire Service Instructor Level I
● Knowledge of the accreditation body's training standards (NFPA, OFM, IFSAC)
● Well-rounded knowledge of fire service professional education and training programs and operations.
Preferred Qualifications:
● Certified NFPA 1041 Fire Service Instructor Level II
● Certified NFPA 1521 Incident Safety Officer
● OFM Associate Instructor
● OFMEM Provincial Evaluation
● Canadian Armed Forces Experience
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $38.94-$44.25 per hour
