Florist & Barista Job Overview
We are seeking a creative, friendly, and reliable Florist & Barista to join our team. In this role, you will create beautiful floral arrangements while providing excellent customer service in both our flower shop and café. You will prepare coffee and other beverages, make sandwiches and light food items, maintain a clean and welcoming environment, and help customers with both floral and café purchases. This position requires creativity, attention to detail, multitasking, and a passion for delivering an exceptional customer experience.
Responsibilities
- Create and design floral arrangements for weddings, events, sympathy, everyday occasions, and custom orders.
- Assist customers in selecting flowers, plants, gifts, and arrangements that suit their needs and budget.
- Prepare coffee, matcha, and other specialty beverages according to company standards.
- Prepare sandwiches and other light food items while following food safety procedures.
- Operate café equipment, coffee machines and food equipment.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the flower shop, café, workstations, display cases, and customer areas.
- Process customer transactions using the POS system and accurately handle cash, credit, and debit payments.
- Restock flowers, café supplies, food items, and retail merchandise as needed.
- Follow all food safety, sanitation, and workplace health and safety standards.
- Provide outstanding customer service by answering questions, resolving concerns, and creating a welcoming atmosphere.
- Assist with opening and closing duties, including cleaning, stocking, and equipment preparation.
Qualifications & Skills
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Proficiency in English; additional languages are a bonus.
- Previous experience in a flower shop, café, coffee shop, retail, or hospitality environment is preferred.
- Driver's license is preferred.
- Food Handler Certification is an asset (or willingness to obtain one).
- Knowledge of floral design, flower care, and plant care is preferred.
- Barista experience is preferred, but training can be provided.
- Experience preparing sandwiches or light food items.
- Familiarity with POS systems and cash handling.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs.
