POSITION MANDATE
The Assembler shall have a basic understanding of electrical principles, the ability to use hand tools and equipment safely, and an eye for detail to ensure quality in their work. Compliance with safety protocols, maintaining a clean work area, and collaborating effectively with team members shall be essential. The Assembler will fabricate and assemble electronic panels and equipment in strict accordance with design specifications, ensuring the team follows best practices and maintains high performance and quality of work.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES
Pre-Assembly
- Basic knowledge of electrical drawings to gain a clear understanding of assembly requirements.
- Pays attention to construction notes, requirements and specific client requests beyond standards.
- Reviews project with Mfg. Supervisor or Assembler Lead, to gain understanding of work and deliverables required.
Assembly
- Reviews provided Bill of Materials (BOM), and tools. Correctly documents missing items from shop inventory or requests they be ordered and advises the Assembler Lead/Mfg. Supervisor.
- Performs assembly in accordance with general layout specified in the drawing or requests support to determine best layout where needed and advises Assembler Lead / Supervisor of changes
- Installs, mounts fasten, aligns and adjusts parts, components, wiring to sub-assemblies and assemblies, using hand and small power tools as required.
- Follows clearances and safety standards.
- Checks final assembly for finish, labelling and proper functioning.
- Cleans and prepares the assembly to meet the standards of a high-quality manufactured product.
- Advises Supervisor / Assembler Lead when products ready for quality and safety testing.
- Assemble electrical components, wiring, and subassemblies according to technical schematics, diagrams, and instructions
- Follow safety guidelines and company procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
Department Support
- Keeps the shop organized and tidy and implements general housekeeping practices to maintain workplace cleanliness.
- Assists in the packaging and shipping of products as required.
- Operates forklifts safely and securely, as required.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- A grade 12/high school diploma is required.
- Understanding of Electrical principles.
- The position requires a mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn.
- Possession of a valid forklift operation certificate, electrical training/apprenticeship or relevant experience would be an asset.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

- Equipment and tools are safely and properly used and maintained and advise Assembler Lead or Supervisor of failed tools and equipment so they may be tagged out.
- Input into documentation is timely and accurate.
- Issues of concern or importance are communicated to the Supervisor or Manager immediately.
- Compliance with relevant policies, procedures, standards and practices, legislation and codes meet expectations.
- Report progressor any issues encountered during assembly to Supervisors / Assembler Lead.
- Maintains accurate time sheet by selecting correct job number, activity and includes detailed comments.
- Ensure continuous improvement log is being used to ensure information is being collected throughout the project life cycle.
- Able to communicate fluently both written and verbally.
JOB SCOPE
With a focus on precision and attention to detail, the position also requires handling tools and equipment, following company protocols, and continuously learning new techniques to improve efficiency and skills in manufacturing. The incumbent is responsible for assembling, wiring of electrical components and systems according to detailed schematics, blueprints, and instructions.
EFFORT
The Assembler-1 is required to demonstrate consistent focus, manual dexterity, and attention to detail to complete assembly tasks with accuracy. The role demands physical effort, including standing for extended periods, using hand tools, and lifting or moving components and equipment. The assembler must follow detailed instructions and diagrams while maintaining concentration to ensure wiring and connections are accurate and meet quality standards. Effective time management is essential to meet production deadlines, along with a commitment to safety practices in handling tools and electrical components. The ability to learn quickly and adapt to feedback is also critical to developing the skills needed for successful assembly work.
WORKING CONDITIONS
The incumbent works in the manufacturing division. This position is physically demanding due to some heavy work. Overtime may be occasionally required.
