Eskimo Point Lumber Supply is currently looking for a Carpenter to join their Maintenance and Services team in Arviat, NU!
The Carpenter is responsible for layout, installation, repairing, finishing, and maintaining various structures, fixtures, and buildings. Other duties will include designing, cutting, and measuring materials according to a client's requirements.
The incumbent will also work in cooperation with other trades and labourers to ensure that all specifications, legislation and policies are met, and to ensure efficient completion of any project.
This is a Term position September- November on a rotation schedule.
This position may be required to travel to various communities in Nunavut.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform all aspects of carpentry for new construction or renovation work in accordance with work orders, plans and specifications
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints
- Conduct repair work and installation of doors, windows, drywall, cabinets, stairs, and other fixtures as required
- Ability to assess the quality of woodwork and materials
- Ability to operate tools, machines, and other equipment
- Compliance with local building codes, and health and safety regulations
- Completion of work order forms, detailing work performed and materials used
- Supervision/training of apprentices as required
- Oversee skilled labourers that are assigned to assist with any project work
- Perform tasks in accordance to health and safety standards
- Be on call-out team to handle emergencies
- Travel to other various communities in Nunavut when needed
- Other duties as required and assigned
Qualifications:
- 5+ years’ technical and trade experience
- Current carpentry license / Red Seal Certification
- Understanding of the current regulations within the field
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills on a technical level
- Able to work both independently and as part of a team
- Must be a self-starter with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Must be flexible with good judgement delivering high level of efficiency and proficiency
- Must demonstrate a positive and professional demeanor
- Strong client focus with demonstrated ability to deliver excellent customer service
- Must have a strong work ethic and be reliable
- Physically fit with good hand-eye coordination
- Current 5F driver’s license
- Able to pass the required criminal record and vulnerable sector background checks

Employment Status: Permanent; Full-Time
Working Hours: Your work schedule will be variable based on the operational needs of EPLS. You may be required to work extended hours based on business and/or customer needs thus time flexibility will be essential in this role.
Rotation Schedule: Rotation Schedule 6 weeks in 2 out
