Oak; Catered Events is a premium private event caterer serving Kelowna and the Okanagan Valley. We create elevated dining experiences built around exceptional ingredients, thoughtful preparation, and refined presentation. From multi-course sunset dinners and terrace canapé receptions to charcuterie displays, vineyard weddings, and corporate food stations, our work is centered on memorable events and exceptional food.
We are hiring 2 additional cooks to join our team for our busiest season yet, with significant event bookings already confirmed over the coming months. With prep shifts during the week and events typically on weekends, this position is ideal for those who already have full-time or part-time work and are looking for additional hours.
We are looking for individuals who take pride in their work, value teamwork, and understand the importance of consistency, organization, and high standards. While catering experience is preferred, we are open to training the right people who have the right attitude and desire to grow.
About the Role
This role includes both prep work in our Kelowna kitchen and on-site event cooking at private and public venues throughout the region.
Prep Cook Responsibilities
- Prep takes place in the 2–3 days leading up to each event, usually Wednesday through Friday. 7:30 - 3:30 +/-
- Maintain cleanliness, organization, efficiency, and attention to detail
- Follow recipes, instructions, and food standards carefully
- Support the execution of custom-curated menus/ contribute creative suggestions when appropriate.
Event Cook Responsibilities
- Typically occurring Saturdays, but at times varying throughout the week, generally 3:00 - Late depending on the event.
- Meet our Catering Management Team on-site at private and public venues in and around Kelowna
- Travel to North and South Okanagan events when required; additional gas/travel wages are provided
- Prepare, cook, assemble, and plate a variety of dishes and canapés based on the menu and service style
- Assist with cleanup, dishwashing, and maintaining a professional work area when needed
- Uphold Oak; standards for professionalism, presentation, and guest experience at all times
What We’re Looking For
- Kitchen experience is required
- Culinary school experience is an asset
- Previous catering experience is preferred
- Fine dining experience will be prioritized
- Valid FoodSafe certificate
- Reliable transportation to and from events around Kelowna
- Strong attention to detail, teamwork, and a positive attitude
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-standard environment
Additional Information
- Training and support will be provided by our Culinary Director, who is committed to helping the team learn and grow
- Starting introductory wage: $20/hour
- After a brief trial period, wages may increase to our standard $25/hour, based on performance and work ethic, with potential for further growth
- Tips are shared equally among staff based on hours worked at each event
- Referral bonuses are available for successful staff referrals

Work Location: In person
