FORKLIFT OPERATOR / SHOP ASSISTANT
We are seeking a reliable and hardworking Forklift / Shop Assistant to join our team. This role involves a
variety of tasks to ensure smooth daily operations, maintain cleanliness, and support various
departments as needed. This is a fast paced, busy role which requires good organizational skills and the
ability to multi-task.
DUTIES:
REPORTING
Report and communicate directly with the Service Manager
Carry out any additional duties assigned by the Service Manager
Provide support to the service technicians as needed
FORKLIFT DUTIES
Follow a google schedule on tablet to ensure service schedule is followed
Move and transport units as required for Service with a Fork Lift, trailer or other equipment
Move, transport and have units ready for service technicians
Move, transport and deliver units to and from customer vehicles, to and from technician bays
and to and front outside and cold storage bay
Move display units to and from front outside display for advertising purposes
CLEANING DUTIES
Clean and maintain units as needed before/after servicing
Repairing any minor issues under the guidance of the Service Manager
Receiving/Shipping Maintenance (Tidy Bay/Remove or Move Pallets)
Maintain a clean and organized working area at all times, this may include cleaning up crates
and pallets from the shop.
Perform routine housekeeping tasks, including emptying trash and sweeping etc
Seasonal duties, like yard clean up and maintenance and/or snow removal and salting
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
- Ability to operate a tablet to follow a google schedule for service scheduling
- Certifications: Forklift Operator, WHIMIS.
- Class 5 or 6 License preferred
- Familiarity with machinery, and general tools.
- Time management, accountability and organizational skills are a must.
- This position requires some physically demanding aspects, like frequent standing, walking, lifting
heavy equipment, and requires good vision, including close vision, distance vision, and depth
perception.
- Ability to work around moving mechanical parts and moderate noise levels in a workshop
setting, or out in the yard.
- Flexibility to adapt to various tasks and priorities.
