POSITION SUMMARY
The Clinic Nurse will work closely with the Doctor to provide primary care services to clinic patients. Required skills include experience with front line patient care, excellent communication and teamwork, and strong multitasking skills.
The role will be primarily responsible for performing clinical tasks delegated by the physician; engaging in independent assessment, diagnostic, treatment and preventative care of patients as per directives from the physician; communicating effectively with patients in person, over the phone, and electronically; and supporting all clinical and administrative needs as required.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Clinic nurse duties
- Well baby exams, pap tests, wart treatments, MOCA assessments, immunizations and diabetic reviews.
- Assistance with blood pressure measurements, ear flushing, basic wound care, dressings, staple removal, and other tasks as needed.
- Reviewing the care plan with the physician and follow up of abnormal results as directed.
- Telephone triage of patient concerns and basic advice.
- Support for physician on EMR messages, HRM documents, reminders, patient follow up and communication.
- Calling patients back as required in follow-up and/or as requested by the physicians.
- Maintaining proper documentation in the patient charts as required.
- Preparation of examination rooms and supplies as required for patient care.
- Checking for reminders for patients and managing preventative care items.
- Scanning, faxing, and other tasks as needed such as immunization reports submitted to Public Health Unit.
- Other tasks pertinent to the administrative and clinical work environments as required from time to time.
- Maintaining logs and following infection control protocols as per guidelines.
Experience working in a primary care setting and working with OSCAR will be considered but is not mandatory. New Grads are welcome to Apply.
