Position Summary:
This multifaceted role combines direct support for people harmed by sexual violence, integrated case management, justice navigation, public education, and facilitation of peer support groups. The Trauma Support Navigator is dedicated to empowering those impacted by sexualized violence and promoting community awareness about primary prevention and response.
Key Responsibilities:
Survivor Advocacy and Support
· Provide trauma-informed crisis intervention, ongoing support including system navigation, and pre therapy stabilization to those harmed
· Offer information, referrals, and accompaniment services (e.g., medical)
· Provide psychoeducation about trauma, coping strategies, and the healing process
· Advocate for the best interests of those harmed within multidisciplinary team meetings and case reviews
· Explain legal processes, victims' rights, and available services in age-appropriate and accessible language
-Advocacy and support navigating the criminal justice system
· Provide for warm transfers to other services internal and external
Integrated Case Management
- Conduct thorough needs assessments with clients to identify risks, strengths, and goals
- Complete all other assessment and surveys as assigned
- Develop individualized case plans in collaboration with clients based on their needs and goals
- Provide referrals to appropriate community resources and support services
- Provide psychoeducation about trauma, coping strategies, and the healing process
- Maintain comprehensive and confidential client records
Education and Community Outreach
- Work collaboratively with the Public Education Specialist
- Develop and deliver public education programs on sexual violence, consent, and legal rights
- Conduct training sessions for professionals in various sectors (e.g., healthcare, education, law enforcement) on responding to sexual violence
- Organize and participate in community awareness events and campaigns
- Develop educational materials and resources on legal rights for survivors and the public
Collaboration and Networking
- Build and maintain strong relationships with community partners, including legal services, law enforcement agencies, and other support organizations
- Participate in multi-disciplinary case management meetings and community coalitions addressing sexual violence
Peer Support Group Facilitation
· Develop, organize and facilitate peer support groups for people harmed by sexual violence
· Create a safe, inclusive, and empowering environment for group participants
Pay: From $25.00 per hour
