Lead the field team behind a province-wide campaign
Voluntary Treatment First Saskatchewan is a grassroots campaign working to put voluntary, treatment-first solutions at the centre of Saskatchewan’s response to addiction. We’re gathering 50,000 valid signatures by October 15, 2026 — and we need a hands-on builder to create our volunteer force from the ground up. There is no existing volunteer base to inherit: you will design the recruitment engine, bring in the very first volunteers, and grow the team from zero to roughly 250 people across six hubs.
This is the campaign’s only paid role. If you’re organized, people-first, energized by a blank slate, and motivated by a clear target, we want to hear from you.
This is a build-from-scratch role, not a maintenance one. You are not stepping into an established, running volunteer program. You are starting from zero and building the recruitment, training, and field structure that everything else depends on.
About the role
Reporting to the Campaign Director, the Volunteer Operations Director (VOD) owns day-to-day field operations across six hubs. Because we are starting with no established volunteer base, your first and most important job is to build one: recruit the first wave of volunteers, stand up the recruitment funnel, promote and certify the earliest Team Leaders, and create the systems that let the team scale. From there you’ll keep the whole operation on pace, compliant, and well-supplied.

- Supervises: Team Leaders (who each lead a hub of volunteers)
- Team: ~250 volunteers across six hubs (Saskatoon, Regina, and four smaller centres)
What you’ll do
- Build the volunteer base from the ground up — design and launch the recruitment engine, bring in the first volunteers, and grow to ~250 across six hubs (Registration → Active Volunteer)
- Onboard and retain volunteers, and keep the recruitment funnel healthy as it scales
- Promote, certify, and coach Team Leaders; run the weekly leadership huddle
- Schedule shifts and maintain hub staffing weighted by population
- Oversee petition-sheet supply and protect chain-of-custody integrity end to end
- Track signatures and validity against weekly pacing targets
- Deliver a metric-driven Weekly Ops Report to the Campaign Director
- Manage incidents on the ground and escalate per the campaign’s authority matrix
What success looks like
- Weekly signature and recruitment targets met province-wide
- Volunteer 30-day retention ≥ 60%
- All Team Leader seats filled and certified
- Signature validity rate ≥ 95%
- Weekly Ops Report delivered on time
What you’ll bring
- Strong organizational skills and proven people leadership (experience leading volunteers or distributed teams is a plus)
- Comfort working in digital tools — we use Notion and Vome
- Clear, steady communication with volunteers, Team Leaders, and leadership
- Ability to work flexibly, up to 25 hours per week, around campaign operations
- Commitment to our harm-reduction, voluntary-treatment mission
Terms & compensation
- Type: Paid, part-time — up to 25 hours per week
