Kennedy House (KH) is a not-for-profit organization with a long-standing dedication to providing exceptional personalized care for youth in the Greater Toronto Area for over 50 years. KH started with an initial family-like group home in 1971 and currently operates several residential and community-based programs, for marginalized and at-risk youth, including:
- One residential home for young people in care;
- Three homes for youth and young adults living with developmental disabilities;
- A Day Treatment school program for youth struggling in the typical school setting;
- Kennedy House Youth Centre, a secure custody facility for male youth experiencing conflict with the law;
- Bailiff services to safely and securely transport youth experiencing conflict with the law;
- Kennedy House After School Program for children aged 4-13 in underserved communities throughout Scarborough; and
- Kennedy House Youth Shelter, for youth aged 16-24 experiencing homelessness.

Position Summary
Kennedy House – Residential Services Division is seeking a dynamic, creative, and compassionate Summer Camp Outreach Worker to join our team for Summer 2026.
The Residential Services Division works in partnership with child welfare systems and community organizations to provide individualized care, support, and life-skills programming for children and youth. Through our Summer Camp Program, participants engage in recreational, educational, and personal development activities designed to foster confidence, social skills, independence, and overall well-being.
Reporting to the Outreach Coordinator, the Summer Camp Outreach Worker will support the daily operation of the summer camp by assisting with program delivery, facilitating activities, ensuring participant safety, and providing positive mentorship to children and youth. The successful candidate will contribute to creating an inclusive, engaging, and supportive environment where participants can learn, grow, and thrive.
The hourly rate for this role is $19.00.
Key Responsibilities
- Work collaboratively with the Outreach Coordinator to ensure all camp programming needs are met.
- Assist in the planning, preparation, and delivery of daily summer camp activities, including recreational, educational, and life-skills programming.
- Support camp participants through positive role modelling, mentorship, and encouragement.
- Supervise and engage children and youth during indoor and outdoor activities, outings, and special events.
- Assist with program setup, cleanup, and maintenance of camp spaces and equipment.
- Maintain a safe, healthy, and inclusive environment for all participants.
- Provide life-skills training, emotional support, and guidance to participants on both an individual and group basis.
- Support the distribution of meals, snacks, and hydration throughout the camp day.
- Assist with attendance tracking, incident reporting, and other required documentation.
- Comply with all organizational policies, procedures, and applicable legislation, including the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education
- Currently enrolled in or recently completed a University Degree or College Diploma in Social Services, Child and Youth Care, Behavioural Sciences, Recreation, Education, or a related field.
Qualifications
- Experience working with children and youth in a camp, recreation, educational, community, or social service setting is preferred. Volunteer and placement experience will be considered.
- Demonstrated understanding of the developmental, emotional, social, and physical needs of children and youth.
- Ability to build positive relationships with participants, families, and community partners in a marginalized environment.
- Current CPR and First Aid Certification, or willingness to obtain certification within 30 days of hire.
- Current Police- Broad Record Check (issued within the last six months) required prior to employment.
- Experience working within a not-for-profit or community-based organization is considered an asset.
- Commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and culturally responsive service delivery.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to respond appropriately to challenging behaviours and support conflict resolution specifically with children an youth.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Must maintain all required immunizations and vaccinations in accordance with organizational policies.
Working Conditions
- Seasonal Summer 2026 position.
- Primarily based within the Summer Camp Program and community settings.
- May require participation in outdoor activities, field trips, and recreational programming.
- Ability to actively participate in camp activities and supervise children and youth in various environments.
