Job Overview
Scorpio Masonry is a busy masonry company with over 50 years of experience in the industry. We are currently seeking a motivated Journeyman Heavy Duty Mechanic to join our equipment team and to start work as soon as possible. This position is an excellent opportunity for an experienced mechanic looking to work full time Monday-Friday. The successful candidate must have experience and be able to work on:
- Trucks (1/2 tons, 1 tons and heavy haul).
- Forklifts (telehandlers & straight mast), manlifts and scissor lifts.
- Gas/electric concrete & mortar mixers.
- Masonry saws.
- Concrete gas quickie saws (Stihl TS420’s).
- Small power & hand tools, and other Masonry related items.
Job Duties Include:
- Test equipment for proper performance and ensure that the work meets manufacturers specifications.
- Adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts, components, or systems. Such as hydraulic hoses, hydraulic cylinders, batteries, alternators, etc.…
- Diagnose and repair small tools and equipment.
- Track down and source parts as needed. We have accounts set up at most local vendors to help facilitate.
- Keep equipment cleaned, lubricated and follow preventative maintenance requirements as per equipment manuals and manufacturers specifications.
- Complete repairs on equipment based on priority sequence from the Fleet Manager.
- Write service reports on the work completed.
- Other activities as directed.
Skills, Abilities and Experience:
- 5+ years’ experience as a Journeyman Heavy Duty Mechanic/Technician.
- Self-motivated and able to work independently.
- Part sourcing.
- Excellent organizational and planning skills.
- Willing to perform a variety of tasks as required.
- Being able to hop from task to task.
- Solve problems from troubleshooting to diagnosis to repair.
- Have a valid Class 5 driver’s license (or Class 3 or Class 1).

Position Specifics:
- This position is available to start immediately.
- Wage will be based on relevant experience.
- Reports to the Shop Manager. Shop is in Winterburn area in the west end of Edmonton.
- You must supply your own hand tools. Larger tools will be provided as required.
- You must supply your own steel-toed safety boots. Other safety equipment will be provided as required.
