BOARD OF DIRECTORS
(Two) Seat Openings
Summerland Varieties Corp. (SVC) is a Canadian full-service intellectual property management firm that is honoured to represent globally recognized varieties of apples, sweet cherries, and berries. SVC has decades of experience in new fruit variety development and commercialization. With an astounding 1,100 contracts under management, the staff team of 10, operating out of Summerland, BC, manage all aspects of fruit variety research, protection, commercialization and rights enforcement.
SVC is advised by leading scientists, horticulturalists, and legal experts; collaborates with research consortiums, plant breeder associations, marketing clubs and government agencies; and has enduring commercial relationships with many of the world’s top nurseries, growers, packers and marketers. The organization is a for-profit corporation, the shares of which are owned by the not-for-profit BC Fruit Growers’ Association. As a separate legal entity, SVC has an independent Board of Directors with its own strategic, operational and financial objectives.
If you are interested in a unique opportunity to participate in providing overall stewardship, strategic direction and governance as an active member on a Board that is doing global work for the benefit of the Canadian fruit industry, SVC is seeking local expertise to fill the two open seats on its Board of Directors. Each Director is eligible for two four-year terms.
