We are seeking a detail-oriented Controls / Electrical Drafter to join our team in Winnipeg, Manitoba.
The Controls / Electrical Drafter supports our controls, electrical, refrigeration, and HVAC teams by preparing accurate technical drawings and project documentation.
This position works closely with project managers, engineers, controls specialists, technicians, purchasing, and other team members to ensure drawings, Bills of Materials, and project records accurately reflect specifications and field conditions.
The ideal candidate has experience with AutoCAD and Microsoft Visio, understands basic electrical and drafting principles, and is comfortable working with technical specifications, engineering drawings, and Bills of Materials. Experience with Building Automation Systems or Distech Controls is considered an asset.

Prepare controls and electrical drawings using AutoCAD and Microsoft Visio.

Develop and update control schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, equipment layouts, and related technical drawings.

Produce design drawings, construction documentation, and final as-built drawings.

Read and interpret engineering drawings, project specifications, equipment submittals, and other technical documents.

Prepare and maintain accurate Bills of Materials for controls and electrical projects.

Revise drawings based on project changes, field conditions, redlines, and team feedback.

Maintain organized drawing files, templates, technical records, and project documentation.

Assist with inventory tracking and monitor materials required for active projects.

Coordinate with project managers, technicians, purchasing, and other departments to identify drawing or material changes.

Review completed drawings and documents for accuracy, consistency, and compliance with company drafting standards.

Assist the project team with administrative and documentation-related tasks when needed.

Communicate questions, concerns, conflicts, and potential discrepancies to the appropriate team members.

Support the continuous improvement and standardization of drawing templates, symbols, and documentation practices.
- Valid Manitoba Class 5 driver's licence.

Knowledge of drafting standards and basic electrical principles.

Proficiency with AutoCAD and Microsoft Visio.

Ability to read and interpret technical specifications and engineering drawings.

Basic understanding of HVAC and Building Automation System terminology.

Experience preparing technical documentation, Bills of Materials, and design or as-built drawings.

Experience preparing electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, or control-panel layouts.

Experience with Distech Controls systems.

Previous Building Automation System design or drafting experience.

Familiarity with control panels, controllers, sensors, relays, motors, instrumentation, and related components.

Experience supporting field installation, commissioning, or project management teams.

Familiarity with industrial refrigeration systems or equipment is an asset.

Primarily office-based work using CAD and standard computer applications.

Regular collaboration with controls, electrical, refrigeration, HVAC, purchasing, and project management teams.

Occasional time in mechanical rooms, equipment areas, panel shops, or active project sites.

Limited travel to customer or project locations may be required.
