Redemption Bible Chapel St. Thomas—a rapidly growing church in beautiful St. Thomas, Ontario--is seeking an Associate Pastor who will help its existing leadership care for its growing numbers and deepen the church’s discipleship as it strives “to know God fully, and make Him fully known”.
Hours: 40 hours / week (full-time salaried position)
Reports To: Lead Pastor
Primary Responsibilities
- Shepherd, disciple, and coach our staff and lay ministry leaders towards increasing Christlikeness, ministry effectiveness, and disciple-making
- Lead our staff and lay ministry leaders in strategically aligning their ministries with our mission and commitments
- Preach expository, applicable, and engaging sermons up to 12 Sundays per year
- Supplement the elders’ shepherding of the congregation through pastoral care and counselling, weddings, funerals, etc.
Additional Responsibilities
- Facilitate church classes as requested (ex: Redemption 101)
- Help ministry leaders proactively disciple and develop potential leaders in their ministries as a means of strengthening their ministry and expending its capacity
- Ensure ministry leaders are serving sustainably by caring for and encouraging them
- Participate in both staff and Great Commission Collective (GCC) initiatives including meetings, conferences, etc.
- Bless other churches (both within and outside the GCC) through supplemental preaching, counselling, ministry leader mentorship, etc.
- Proactively and strategically pursue ongoing personal discipleship and development
Other responsibilities which may be offered depending on the church’s needs and the candidate’s gifting, character, and passions include:
- Collaborating with the Lead Pastor and elders in prayerfully reviewing and refining the church’s mission, commitments, and key philosophies of ministry
- Collaborating with the Lead Pastor in creating and leading courses for the church in areas such as hermeneutics, Christian leadership, and preaching
- Temporarily or permanently leading specific church ministries
- Joining Redemption’s elder team
Key Qualifications
- Christlike character as described in 1 Timothy 3:1-7, Titus 1:5-9, and other biblical texts
- Pervasive and consistent desire to be more like, nearer to, and more greatly used by Jesus Christ
- Commitment to the mission, commitments, and leadership of Redemption Bible Chapel
- Strong agreement with Redemption Bible Chapel’s Statement of Faith
- God-given gifts in leadership, teaching/preaching, and shepherding
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Education & Experience
- Bachelor of Theology and/or Master of Divinity preferred (but not required)
- Substantive experience leading other leaders preferred
Compensation & Benefits:
- Salary Range: $50,000-$90,000 per year, commensurate with qualification and need
- Budgets: personal development and interpersonal ministry budgets provided
- Paid Vacation: 4 weeks to start (negotiable)
