Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Kitchen Assistant / Prep Cook to join our dynamic culinary team. This role is essential in supporting the daily operations of our restaurant by preparing ingredients, assisting with food service, and maintaining high standards of food safety and cleanliness. The ideal candidate will have a passion for food preparation and a strong understanding of kitchen procedures, ensuring smooth and efficient meal service for our guests.
Duties
- Assist with food preparation, including chopping, slicing, and portioning ingredients according to recipes and standards
- Support cooking activities by preparing basic dishes and assembling menu items
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen area, including washing dishes, sanitizing surfaces, and storing ingredients properly
- Handle food safely and adhere to all health regulations to prevent contamination
- Serve food to guests in a timely and courteous manner when required
- Assist with inventory management by monitoring supplies and notifying supervisors of low stock levels
- Follow all food safety protocols and ensure compliance with sanitation standards
- Support the team during busy service hours by efficiently managing prep work and assisting where needed
Skills
- Experience in serving, food preparation, or cooking within a restaurant or food service environment is preferred
- Knowledge of food handling procedures and safety regulations in the food industry
- Strong skills in meal preparation and kitchen tasks such as chopping, measuring, and assembling ingredients
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure during peak hours while maintaining attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members
- Familiarity with restaurant operations and a commitment to high standards of cleanliness and safety
- Previous kitchen experience or background in the food industry is a plus but not required; training will be provided for the right candidate
