We are seeking a full-time Pastry Cook to join our team. Candidates must have an exceptional work ethic, be able to work independently as well as part of a team and have the ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining organization and cleanliness. Pay starts at $17.60 and will adjust depending on candidate's capabilities.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and bake cake and pastry according to recipes, quality and presentation standards, and food prep checklists
- Be organized and able to follow guidelines and procedures to avoid food and time waste
- Safely and appropriately use baking and measuring tools/equipment/appliances to prepare baked foods.
- Ability to produce according to tight deadlines or fast-paced periods
- Follow and ensure compliance with food safety handling policies and procedures, including personal hygiene procedures.
Qualifications:
- Post-secondary education in Culinary or Pastry Arts is a strong asset, or equivalent experience is an asset
- Previous experience making cakes and pastry on a commercial level is an asset
- Food Handler’s certification
- Must have a positive attitude and be willing to take on diverse duties as this company grows
- Must be able to multi-task
- Ability to work full time, Wednesday to Sunday 6.00/6.30am-2.30/3.00pm
- Ability to work as part of a team, as well as independently
- Must have proper knife handling skills and adhere to safety regulations.
- Ability to follow detailed written and/or verbal instructions, and a good level of communication in English both verbal and written
- Candidate must be able to lift 45lb/25kg autonomously and do any physical movement commonly expected for a commercial kitchen job such as standing for prolonged amounts of time, reaching with hands and arms, and stooping or kneeling.
