Summary
As a Chinese (Mandarin) Teacher at DoodleMinds, you will play a key role in creating an engaging, immersive Chinese language learning environment for young learners. Reporting to the Program Lead, your core responsibilities include designing and delivering age-appropriate Chinese lessons, communicating with parents, and ensuring the safety and well-being of every child. Your fluency in Mandarin combined with a passion for working with children will bring language and culture to life in the classroom, making a lasting impact on each child's development.
Main Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver engaging, age-appropriate Mandarin Chinese lessons that promote language acquisition, cultural appreciation, and communication skills.
- Create a supportive and immersive classroom environment that encourages students to practice speaking, listening, reading, and writing in Chinese.
- Attend curriculum training and professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in language instruction and youth education.
- Foster a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere, encouraging children to explore Chinese language and culture with confidence.
- Build strong connections with parents and guardians, maintaining open communication to support each child's learning journey.
- Adhere to program schedules and maintain appropriate student-to-teacher ratios, providing adequate notice for any scheduling changes.
Perform other duties as assigned to support the success of the DoodleMinds program.
Qualifications:
- Diploma or degree in Chinese Language, Education, or a related field; a teaching certification or TCFL (Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language) qualification is an asset.
- Native fluency in Mandarin Chinese, with strong verbal and written communication skills in both Chinese and English.
- Experience teaching Chinese in an international school in China is strongly preferred.
- Experience working in a Montessori school setting is an asset
- Genuine love for working with children, with patience and a nurturing approach to teaching.
- High energy, enthusiasm, and a passion for language and cultural education.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with children, parents, and colleagues.
- Flexibility to work varied shifts including mornings, afternoons, and weekends as required.
