The successful candidate will demonstrate an ability to perform a number of tasks including: fire protection and rescue services, fire inspection and public education within established policies and guidelines.
Note: Volunteer Firefighters are compensated for attending emergency scenes, training and performing station duties.
Becoming a Probationary Volunteer Firefighter involves a significant commitment beginning with a comprehensive two-hundred and sixty (260) hour training program.
Candidates are expected to attend bi-weekly, in-person training blocks, consisting of 16-18 hours over the course of a weekend, Saturday and Sunday. In addition, candidates are expected to attend additional training sessions on evenings during the week & complete several hours of mandatory self-study per week throughout the duration of the training program

Candidates are expected to commit to 100% attendance during the training program.
The commitment to the position continues after the training program is complete as Probationary Volunteer Firefighters are expected to respond to calls in order to meet the requirements set out in the Collective Agreement.
