Kitchen on Sixth is hiring a Head Chef to lead our kitchen.
We are a 40 seat busy neighbourhood restaurant in Etobicoke with a strong brunch and dinner trade. We have a good team of cooks in place, and our current Head Chef is leaving to start his own venture. He will still be available during the transition to offer guidance and support.
We are looking for someone who can step in, take ownership, and keep the kitchen running well. This is a hands on role for someone organized, consistent, and calm under pressure.
Responsibilities
- Lead daily kitchen service
- Manage and support the kitchen team
- Keep food quality, prep, and plating consistent
- Maintain strong standards for cleanliness and food safety
- Manage ordering, stock levels, and prep lists
- Control waste and help manage food costs
- Keep the kitchen organized and ready for service
- Work with ownership on specials, menu updates, and kitchen systems
- Hold the team accountable in a fair and professional way
What we are looking for
- Previous Head Chef or strong Sous Chef experience
- Experience in a busy restaurant kitchen
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Good organization and time management
- A calm, steady approach during service
- Strong understanding of prep, ordering, food cost, and waste control
- Someone reliable, punctual, and consistent
- Someone who takes pride in standards and team culture
Requirements
- Food Handler Certification
- Availability Wednesday-Sunday
- Strong kitchen experience in a similar role
Compensation
60k + Weekly cash tipout
Pay: $60,000.00 per year
