About the Role
We are seeking a highly experienced, versatile Senior Electrical Engineer with a proven track record of taking complex electronic products from concept to production. This unique role demands equal expertise in two key domains: RF engineering and acoustic systems (including underwater transducers). You will be responsible for bridging the gap between high-frequency wireless communications, physical marine acoustics, and low-noise analog circuitry.
You will work independently to solve tough engineering challenges, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and manage the full product lifecycle. As a senior member of a dynamic team, you possess a "get-it-done" attitude—combining high-level architectural design with a willingness to roll up your sleeves and assist on the production floor when manufacturing loads are heavy.
Key Responsibilities
- Dual-Domain Circuit Design: Lead the design, simulation, schematic capture, and PCB layout for both high-frequency RF circuits and precision analog front-ends.
- Acoustic & Electroacoustic Engineering: Design and optimize matching networks and drive electronics for acoustic systems, specifically focusing on underwater transducers.
- RF System Development: Design, test, and integrate RF transceivers, power amplifiers, filters, and impedance matching networks to optimize wireless performance and signal integrity.
- Signal Processing & Optimization: Implement signal processing algorithms tailored for acoustic arrays, hydrophones, and RF communication links.
- Testing & Troubleshooting: Conduct hands-on laboratory testing, debugging, and advanced troubleshooting of prototype hardware, RF components, and acoustic elements.
- Software Integration & AI Utilization: Support embedded software design efforts and leverage modern AI tools (such as Claude and Gemini) to optimize engineering workflows and code development.
- Supply Chain & Manufacturing Collaboration: Organize parts lists (BOM management), source specialized components, identify substitutions, and interface directly with contract PCB assemblers.
- Project & Assembly Support: Manage engineering timelines, supervise production workflows, provide technical customer support, and step in to assist with hands-on assembly duties during peak production volumes.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree (4-year program) in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.
- Experience: 10 or more years of hands-on experience in electrical engineering and electronics product development.
- Domain Expertise: Balanced, proven experience designing and testing both RF circuits/systems and acoustic systems/underwater transducers.
- Technical & Lab Proficiency: Professional mastery of simulation tools (e.g., SPICE, RF simulation software), PCB layout software, and laboratory test equipment (spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, impedance analyzers, oscilloscopes).
- Teamwork & Adaptability: Works exceptionally well with others, possesses strong communication skills, and demonstrates a flexible, supportive mindset regarding day-to-day manufacturing and assembly demands.
- Independence: Proven ability to manage projects and drive complex technical tasks forward independently.
Assets (Nice to Have)
- Professional Engineer designation (P.Eng).
- Post-graduate degree (Master’s or Ph.D.) in Electrical Engineering, Acoustics, or a related discipline.
