Job Description
We are looking for a detail-oriented and highly motivated Safety and Compliance Agent to join our operations team. This dynamic position combines responsibilities in both talent acquisition and regulatory compliance, focusing on supporting our commercial fleet operations. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring our workforce is built with qualified talent and that our transportation activities consistently meet all compliance and safety standards.
Recruitment Responsibilities:
- Lead the full-cycle recruitment process for commercial drivers, including sourcing, screening, interviewing, and hiring.
- Manage all pre-employment verifications such as criminal background checks and reference verification.
- Collect and review all onboarding documentation (e.g., licenses, insurance, vehicle documents, abstracts, etc.).
- Coordinate and schedule road evaluations, equipment inspections, and training sessions.
- Prepare offer letters, assemble new hire onboarding packages, and liaise with Human Resources for entry into the internal HR system.
- Issue company devices (e.g., mobile phones) and provide orientation support to new hires.
- Establish a consistent pipeline of qualified candidates through proactive sourcing strategies.
- Collaborate with internal departments to develop strategies for attracting, training, and retaining top-tier drivers.
Safety & Compliance Oversight:
- Monitor and report on regulatory compliance related to fleet operations, including license validity, CVOR standing, and inspection readiness.
- Conduct daily inspections of equipment stored on company premises to ensure operational integrity.
- Oversee the status and maintenance schedules for all fleet assets, including leased and subcontracted equipment.
- Manage accident reports, traffic violations, and incident investigations; maintain related documentation and coordinate with legal counsel as needed.
- Process licensing and registration requests through provincial and IRP offices, including occasional in-person visits.
- Track and analyze safety metrics and provide regular reports on compliance indicators.
- Ensure driver files are up to date and in alignment with all legal and regulatory standards.
- Visit accident sites and complete required reporting.
- Other duties as assigned by management.
Required Skills:
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in a transportation-focused role involving both recruiting and compliance functions.
- Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements in transportation and fleet operations.
- Demonstrated ability to manage end-to-end recruitment and onboarding processes.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Comfortable working independently and traveling locally when required.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
- High attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
