Position Overview:
The Assembly Technician plays a key role in supporting production and development by assembling a range of composite materials, structural components, and parts. This position requires a strong commitment to maintaining a safe work environment while delivering high-quality workmanship and contributing positively to a team-oriented culture.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assemble, fit, and install composite materials, prefabricated parts, metal components, and sub-assemblies in accordance with detailed work instructions and customer requirements.
- Perform a variety of assembly tasks including measuring, drilling, reaming, countersinking, riveting, and installing fasteners.
- Prepare and apply adhesives, bonding agents, and sealants as needed.
- Complete repairs on assemblies following prescribed procedures and quality standards.
- Conduct self-inspections to ensure work meets quality expectations.
- Identify and report defects, non-conforming parts, or process issues.
- Accurately document production and inspection results when required.
- Meet daily production targets and maintain workflow efficiency.
- Assist with new product introduction and development activities.
- Recommend improvements to manufacturing processes where applicable.
- Collaborate with other departments such as Quality and Tooling, including supporting in-process inspections.
- Provide guidance and support to less experienced team members when needed.
Qualifications & Skills:
- High school diploma (Grade 12) required.
- Post-secondary training in mechanical, structural, or aerospace assembly is considered an asset with at least 1 year of related experience; alternatively, a minimum of 3 years’ hands-on experience in a similar field.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Motivated, dependable, and quick to learn new skills.
- Ability to safely use power tools, cutting equipment, and related machinery.
- Capable of reading and interpreting blueprints and technical instructions.
- Comfortable following detailed procedures with accuracy.
- Basic math skills including working with fractions and decimals.
- Able to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
- Physically capable of lifting up to 50 lbs and wearing required personal protective equipment, including respirators.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and job orders.
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace, particularly when working with sensitive materials.
- Demonstrates a strong commitment to workplace safety and proper equipment handling.
- Willingness to take on additional duties as assigned.
Pay: From $23.83 per hour
