Job Summary
A private household employer is seeking a reliable, compassionate, and responsible Home Support Worker to provide in-home care and daily support to an elderly woman with medical and personal care needs.
The successful applicant will assist with personal care, bathing, grooming, mobility, exercise, meal preparation, cooking, light housekeeping, laundry, companionship, shopping, and maintaining a safe, clean, peaceful, and pleasant home environment.
This is a private-home caregiving position. It is not a commercial cleaning, janitorial, or facilities maintenance position.
Main Duties
The Home Support Worker will perform the following duties:
- Assist the care recipient with bathing and other aspects of personal hygiene.
- Provide personal care in a respectful and dignified manner.
- Assist with regular exercise, including walking and mobility support.
- Help with safe movement inside the home and reduce fall risks.
- Provide companionship, conversation, emotional support, and respectful personal attention.
- Prepare and serve nutritious meals, snacks, tea, and drinks.
- Cook meals according to the care recipient’s needs, preferences, and dietary instructions.
- Plan therapeutic diets and menus where instructed by the family or healthcare provider.
- Provide medication reminders and assist with medication routines as instructed. Medication administration will only be done where permitted and properly directed.
- Perform light housekeeping and cleaning duties related to the care recipient.
- Launder clothing and household linens.
- Change bed linens and help keep the care recipient’s room, washroom, kitchen area, and living area clean and comfortable.
- Shop for food and household supplies when required.
- Monitor the care recipient’s general well-being and report any concerns, discomfort, falls, or changes in condition to the employer or family.
- Maintain confidentiality and respect the privacy, dignity, culture, and personal preferences of the care recipient and household.
Required Skills and Qualities
The applicant should have:
- Experience in caregiving, elderly care, home support, personal support work, nurse aide work, or similar care-related work.
- Ability to assist an elderly person with medical and daily living needs.
- Ability to cook, clean, perform laundry, and assist with household support connected to the care recipient.
- Ability to work independently in a private home.
- Good communication skills in English.
- Patience, compassion, honesty, reliability, and attention to detail.
- Respect for privacy, dignity, and household routines.
- First Aid and CPR training is an asset.
- Police background check may be required.
- References may be requested.

Pay: $17.86-$20.00 per hour
