MHB Financial helps Canadian SMBs access capital with speed, transparency, and care. As we continue to grow, we are seeking an experienced Director of Finance to lead key financial operations and support strategic business objectives.
Position Overview
The Director of Finance will lead financial reporting, forecasting, budgeting, and operational finance functions while supporting the company’s continued growth. Working closely with leadership and cross-functional teams, you’ll provide financial insights, improve processes, and help manage portfolio and treasury reporting.
The ideal candidate has experience in fintech, lending, private credit, or financial services and thrives in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Leadership
- Support the development and execution of financial strategies that drive growth and profitability.
- Provide financial analysis, forecasting, and scenario planning to support executive decision-making.
- Assist with corporate planning, operational scaling, and new product initiatives.
Capital & Treasury Management
- Support relationships with capital providers, lenders, and funding partners.
- Assist in managing credit facilities, covenant reporting, and treasury functions.
- Monitor liquidity planning, cash flow forecasting, and capital allocation.
Financial Operations
- Oversee accounting operations, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
- Ensure the accuracy, timeliness, and integrity of financial statements and internal reporting.
- Maintain audit readiness and coordinate external audit activities.
- Ensure compliance with applicable financial and regulatory requirements.
Portfolio & Credit Analytics
- Monitor portfolio performance, repayment trends, and risk-adjusted returns.
- Support provisioning, credit modeling, loss forecasting, and financial risk analysis.
- Collaborate with underwriting teams to enhance credit policies, scoring models, and reporting frameworks.
Team Leadership & Process Improvement
- Build, mentor, and support a strong finance team.
- Promote accountability, transparency, and continuous improvement.
- Drive the implementation of scalable financial systems, reporting tools, and operational processes.
Qualifications
Required
- 6+ years of progressive finance experience within fintech, lending, private credit, or financial services.
- Experience working with loan portfolios, capital partners, or debt facilities.
- Strong financial analysis, reporting, and credit risk background.
- CPA, CFA, MBA, or similar credential.
- Proven ability to support financial planning and operational growth in a fast-paced environment.
Preferred
- Previous experience as a Director of Finance, Senior Finance Manager, or similar leadership role.
- Experience supporting lender, investor, or banking relationships.
- Knowledge of Canadian financial and regulatory frameworks.
- Experience with fintech systems, lending platforms, or financial automation tools.
Pay: $160,000.00 per year
