Forest School Facilitator
We are seeking a caring, engaged, and enthusiastic Forest School Facilitator to join our team. The ideal candidate will enjoy spending time outdoors, connecting with children, and supporting child-led learning and play.
As a facilitator, you will play an important role in creating a supportive and engaging environment where children feel safe to explore, discover, connect, and learn at their own pace.
Responsibilities include:
- Supporting children in their learning, play, discoveries, creativity, and social experiences throughout the day.
- Being present, attentive, and responsive to children. Tuning in to their individual needs, interests, ideas, and experiences.
- Supporting children as they navigate conflict, build relationships, develop communication skills, and work through challenges and problem-solving.
- Leading group activities, while also recognizing and responding to opportunities for meaningful one-on-one learning and teaching moments.
- Holding space for children to explore their ideas and emotions while offering guidance and support when needed.
- Helping create a positive, respectful, and inclusive environment where every child feels valued and supported.
- Working collaboratively with the Cedarwood team to support the flow and rhythm of the day.
Qualifications
- Experience working with children in educational or recreational settings, preferably in outdoor or nature-based programs.
- Knowledge of early child development principles.
- Strong communication skills to effectively engage children, parents, and team members.
- Ability to design engaging activities that incorporate environmental themes while supporting literacy and numeracy skills.
