As we continue to expand our Decorative Surfacing portfolio, we are looking for an Architectural & Design Specification Representative to grow awareness, drive specifications, and build lasting relationships within the A&D community.

Position Overview
The Architectural & Design Specification Representative is responsible for creating demand and driving specification activity for McKillican's decorative surfacing and related product categories throughout the Edmonton market.
The successful candidate will develop relationships with architects, designers, specifiers, fabricators, and other key influencers to ensure McKillican products are considered and specified on commercial and residential projects.
Key ResponsibilitiesBusiness Development & Specification Growth
- Develop and maintain relationships with architects, interior designers, specifiers, fabricators, contractors, and end users.
- Generate product specifications that lead to project opportunities and sales growth.
- Identify and pursue project-based opportunities within the territory.
- Maintain an active project pipeline and provide regular updates on specification activity.
- Analyze market trends, competitive activity, and project opportunities to identify growth potential.
- Develop territory plans and account strategies to achieve growth objectives.
Product Promotion & Education
- Conduct product presentations, lunch-and-learns, and educational sessions for the A&D community.
- Promote McKillican's decorative surfacing portfolio and related product offerings.
- Coordinate samples, displays, marketing materials, and project support documentation.
- Stay current on product knowledge, industry trends, and competitive offerings.
- Represent McKillican at industry events, trade shows, networking functions, and association meetings.
Relationship Management
- Serve as the primary point of contact for the architectural and design community within the assigned territory.
- Build strong partnerships with key decision-makers and influencers.
- Work closely with internal sales, customer service, marketing, purchasing, and operations teams to support project success.
- Ensure exceptional customer support throughout the specification and project development process.
Administration & Reporting
- Maintain accurate project, account, and activity records within CRM.
- Track and report specification activity, project pipelines, and market opportunities.
- Assist with forecasting, territory planning, and annual business objectives.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in specification sales, architectural sales, building materials, interior products, commercial interiors, or related industries is considered an asset.
- Strong relationship-building and networking skills.
- Excellent communication and presentation abilities.
- Self-motivated with strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
- Experience using CRM systems and Microsoft Office applications.
- Knowledge of the architectural, design, millwork, construction, or fabrication industries is an asset.
Travel
Travel throughout the Edmonton region is required, including customer visits, industry events, trade shows, and occasional travel to branch locations and company meetings.
