About the Role
Urban Forest Landscaping is seeking a motivated and skilled Arborist / Landscape Technician to join our growing team. This is a unique hybrid role that combines professional landscape maintenance with arboricultural services.
The successful candidate will spend a portion of their time performing landscape maintenance duties across our portfolio of strata and commercial properties, while also assisting with and leading arboricultural work as required. As our arborist division continues to expand, there will be increasing opportunities to focus on tree care operations and help grow our in-house arboriculture department.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys variety in their work, takes pride in delivering high-quality service, and wants to play a key role in developing a growing tree care division.
Responsibilities - Arborist Duties
- Tree pruning and structural pruning in accordance with industry best practices
- Tree removals and dismantling operations
- Hazard tree assessments and reporting
- Hedge pruning and specialty pruning
- Cabling and bracing installations (where qualified)
- Stump grinding operations
- Tree planting and establishment care
- Assisting with aerial and climbing operations
- Operating chainsaws, pole saws, chippers, stump grinders, and other arboricultural equipment
- Maintaining safe work practices and complying with WorkSafeBC regulations
Landscape Duties
- Garden maintenance and detail work
- Shrub pruning and plant care
- Weeding and bed maintenance
- Mulch installation
- Seasonal cleanups
- Lawn maintenance and turf care
- Planting and landscape enhancement projects
- Irrigation troubleshooting and minor repairs
- Property inspections and reporting
Qualifications Required
- Valid BC Driver's License (Class 5 minimum)
- Minimum 2 years experience in arboriculture, landscaping, or a related outdoor trade
- Ability to perform physically demanding work in all weather conditions
- Strong understanding of safe work practices
- Reliable, punctual, and professional attitude
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Preferred
- ISA Certified Arborist designation (or working towards certification)
- Utility Arborist Certification
- Arborist Technician Certification
- Chainsaw Safety Training
- First Aid Certification
- Experience operating aerial lifts
- Experience climbing and rigging

While landscape maintenance work will form part of the position initially, our goal is to continue expanding our in-house arborist services.
