We're looking for a creative, organized, and customer-focused Retail Sales & Merchandising Associate to join our team. This role combines customer service, visual merchandising, inventory management, e-commerce support, and store maintenance. Working closely with our Managers, you'll help create an inviting shopping experience while ensuring our retail spaces remain beautiful, organized, and fully stocked.
What You'll DoCustomer Experience
- Deliver exceptional customer service by warmly welcoming and assisting guests.
- Build relationships with customers through product knowledge and thoughtful recommendations.
- Handle customer inquiries, concerns, and feedback professionally and efficiently.
- Manage customer orders and inquiries through phone, email, and in-store communication.
- Monitor and respond to store emails and voicemails.
- Help create a welcoming and memorable experience for every guest who visits the Mercantile.
Retail Merchandising & Sales
- Assist with seasonal merchandising, product displays, cabinet styling, and greenery installations.
- Maintain attractive, organized, and fully stocked retail displays.
- Refresh and rearrange merchandise regularly as new inventory arrives.
- Maintain flower bouquet inventory and coordinate dried flower replenishment.
- Collaborate with our Social Media Coordinator to create content that showcases new products, seasonal collections, and life at the Mercantile.
- Support website maintenance, including online order fulfillment and product updates.
- Engage customers with product knowledge and recommendations to support sales.
Inventory & Purchasing Support
- Maintain accurate inventory records and perform regular stock checks.
- Receive merchandise, process damages, and coordinate claims when required.
- Assist with ordering and replenishing retail merchandise and operational supplies.
- Assist with annual inventory counts and inventory organization.
Organization & Store Maintenance
- Maintain organized storage areas, stockrooms, and retail backstock.
- Help develop and maintain systems that improve organization and efficiency.
- Keep retail spaces clean, welcoming, and visually appealing.
- Complete regular cleaning tasks including dusting, glass cleaning, sweeping, mopping, sanitizing, and restocking supplies.
- Perform washroom maintenance checks and support nightly cleaning procedures.
- Assist in watering and maintaining plants throughout the retail space.
- Support café operations when needed, including break coverage and closing assistance.

- Previous retail and customer service experience.
- A passion for creating exceptional customer experiences.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Product visual merchandising experience
- Interest in Canadian-made products, local makers, and small business.
- Ability to work independently while contributing positively to a team environment.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Comfortable with light lifting and being active throughout the day.

Compensation & Hours
- Competitive hourly wage based on experience.
- 30-40 hours
- Weekend and holiday availability required
- Flexible scheduling based on operational needs.
