Job Description:
In this position you will learn and assist with the maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and installation of manufacturing equipment and facility systems under the guidance of licensed maintenance personnel. This position combines practical, hands-on experience with formal apprenticeship training to develop the knowledge and skills required to become a qualified maintenance technician.
The apprentice is expected to follow all safety procedures, actively participate in training opportunities, and progressively perform maintenance tasks with increasing independence as competencies are achieved.
The successful candidate must be able to work day shift and afternoon shift, occasionally work flexible hours and overtime as required with a reasonable work-life balance.
Responsibilities:
- Assist licensed maintenance technicians with preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities.
- Learn to troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and automation systems.
- Perform routine inspections of production equipment and report abnormalities.
- Communicates all maintenance related issues to Team Lead/Supervisor in a timely manner.
- Assist with equipment installations, modifications, and commissioning.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders, and documentation using the company's maintenance management system.
- Safely use hand tools, power tools, measuring instruments, and testing equipment.
- Support machine changeovers and equipment setup as required.
- Participate in root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area using 5S principles.
- Follow Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), confined space, machine guarding, and other safety procedures.
- Respond to equipment breakdowns under the supervision of qualified maintenance personnel.
- Participate in scheduled apprenticeship training and complete all required coursework.
- Learn to interpret equipment manuals, technical drawings, schematics, and maintenance procedures.
- Assist in maintaining spare parts inventory and organizing maintenance supplies.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- A registered apprenticeship as a Industrial Mechanic Millwright.
- Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Basic computer skills.
