Position Summary
We are seeking a compassionate, experienced Care Aide to support a medically complex client with advanced neurological and physical care needs. The ideal candidate has experience with high-acuity care, demonstrates patience and attentiveness, and is comfortable working closely with family and healthcare professionals.
Key ResponsibilitiesPersonal Care
- Assist with all activities of daily living (ADLs): bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting
- Provide incontinence care as needed
- Support mobility, transfers, and positioning (bed, wheelchair, etc.)
Medical & Specialized Care Support
- Assist with feeding (may include modified diets or feeding tubes )
- Monitor for signs of distress, discomfort, or medical changes
- Follow established care plans and therapy protocols
- Support range-of-motion exercises as directed by therapists
- Maintain a clean and safe environment to prevent infection or injury
Behavioral & Cognitive Support
- Provide attentive, calm, and patient-centered care
- Engage the client in appropriate sensory or cognitive activities
- Monitor for non-verbal cues (pain, discomfort, emotional needs)
Safety & Supervision
- Provide continuous supervision as required
- Ensure safe transfers and positioning to prevent pressure injuries
- Follow all safety protocols and emergency procedures
Documentation & Communication
- Accurately document care provided and any changes in condition
- Communicate effectively with family, nurses, and care coordinators
- Report concerns promptly
Required Qualifications
- Health Care Aide Registration in BC
- Experience with complex care, brain injury, or pediatric care preferred
- Knowledge of mobility assistance and safe transfers
- First Aid & CPR certification
- Ability to follow detailed care plans
Preferred Skills
- Experience with neurological conditions or severe disabilities
- Experience with feeding assistance (including G-tube )
- Strong observational skills (especially for non-verbal clients)
- Gentle, patient, and emotionally supportive approach

Pay: From $24.00 per hour
