Laboratory Technical Specialist
Reports To: Senior Laboratory Technical Specialist
About the Role
Dell Tech is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Laboratory Technical Specialist to join our Laboratory Services team. In this role, you will perform laboratory testing, support regulatory compliance initiatives, and provide technical expertise to clients across Canada and internationally. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering accurate laboratory results, maintaining quality standards, and supporting business growth through exceptional client service.
Key Responsibilities
Laboratory Operations
- Receive, inspect, document, and log samples for testing.
- Prepare samples, reagents, and solutions according to established laboratory procedures.
- Conduct laboratory testing and analyses following approved methods and written procedures.
- Prepare accurate, professional, and timely reports detailing test results and findings.
- Perform calibration, verification, and routine maintenance of laboratory instruments and equipment.
- Safely handle, test, store, and dispose of hazardous materials, including toxic, corrosive, and flammable substances.
- Assist with laboratory method development, validation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support laboratory inventory management, including consumables purchasing and stock control.
Client & Technical Support
- Provide technical guidance and laboratory consulting services to domestic and international clients.
- Prepare laboratory testing quotations and support project scoping activities.
- Collaborate with clients, regulatory agencies, and internal teams to address technical questions and resolve issues.
- Research and maintain current information on raw material ingredients and regulatory requirements.
- Stay informed on evolving industry regulations, standards, and best practices through professional development and industry networking.
Business & Team Support
- Participate in client discovery and project scoping discussions as required.
- Contribute to business development initiatives through technical content creation, webinars, training programs, and client meetings.
- Participate in the Quality Management System, including internal auditing activities.
- Accurately track project time, expenses, and performance metrics.
- Support other divisions and cross-functional teams during periods of increased project demand.
- Actively participate in team meetings and contribute to achieving departmental and company objectives.
What You'll Bring
Education & Experience
- Post-secondary education in Chemistry, Chemical Technology, Environmental Science, Biochemistry, or a related scientific discipline.
- Minimum 2 years of laboratory experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Technical Knowledge
- Strong understanding of laboratory testing methods, analytical techniques, and chemical principles.
- Experience working safely with laboratory chemicals and hazardous materials.
- Knowledge of Canadian and U.S. regulatory requirements, including:
- CCCR
- CPSC
- WHMIS / OSHA
- TDG / DOT
- IATA
- IMDG

Pay: $40,000.00-$60,000.00 per year
