We are seeking a caring, patient, and experienced Special Needs Teacher to provide individualized academic and developmental support to a student. This role requires working closely with the child and family, including providing support in the child’s home.
The ideal candidate is compassionate, reliable, flexible, and able to adapt instruction to meet the needs of the student. This position is well-suited for someone with experience supporting children with learning differences, developmental needs, autism, ADHD, speech/language delays, behavioural needs, or other exceptionalities.
Responsibilities include:
- Providing one-on-one educational support tailored to the child’s needs
- Developing and implementing individualized learning activities
- Supporting academic, social, communication, and life skills development
- Using patient, positive, and encouraging teaching strategies
- Communicating regularly with parents and/or school staff about progress
- Helping create a structured, supportive, and calm learning environment
- Travelling to the child’s home for scheduled sessions
Qualifications:
- Experience working with children with special needs or exceptionalities
- Teaching, tutoring, EA, ECE, ABA, psychology, special education, or related background preferred
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Patient, kind, dependable, and professional
- Able to adapt lessons and expectations based on the child’s needs
- Willing and able to work in the child’s home
- Vulnerable Sector Check required
