Job Overview
We are seeking an organized, compassionate, and detail-oriented Medical Office Assistant to join our busy family medical team. The ideal candidate will provide exceptional front desk support, manage electronic medical records, and ensure smooth daily operations. Prior experience with office management systems and medical terminology is highly valued.
Duties:
- Greet and assist patients in person or by phone with professionalism and empathy.
- Data processing including management of incoming and outgoing faxes, prescription renewals, report scanning, medical chart transfers, facilitating referrals (including tracking status)
- Reception support including answering phones, scheduling appointments, processing mail, minor payment transactions.
- Triaging patient phone calls and asking for assistance from nursing and/or physicians when appropriate.
- Relays messages to patients from nursing and physicians (i.e. scheduling investigations, test results, etc.)
- Identifying and managing abusive/violent patients in a timely and appropriate manner.
Required Qualifications:
- 1-2 years experience in medical office or similar
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining a team-oriented attitude
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to multitask
- Ensure confidentiality of all patient information in accordance with regulatory standards
- Vulnerable sectors check
- Professional/personal reference
Assets
- Proficiency in EMR systems (PS Suites)
- Diploma in Medical Office Administration
- Current CPR/First Aid Certification
