Heavy Metal Equipment & Rentals is searching for experienced Heavy Equipment Technicians (HETs) specializing in CAT 797 Haul Trucks and Hydraulic Shovels to join our team.
An excellent HET will be:
- Able to understand equipment systems to effectively and efficiently determine the necessary route for repairs
- A technician that strives to provide the highest levels of service and quality of work with Heavy Metal's best interest at the forefront of all tasks

- Experienced, competent and able to repair, troubleshoot, adjust, overhaul and maintain mobile heavy duty equipment

Work at the Heart of Canada’s Energy Sector
Based in the Alberta Oil Sands (Fort McMurray/Wood Buffalo Region), you’ll work on a 14/14 rotation in a safety-first environment. With 12-hour shifts, alternating sets between days and nights, you’ll rack up 80 regular hours and 88 overtime hours per rotation.
What We’re Looking For:
- A desire to make a difference and take pride in your work
- Apprentice, International, Red Seal or Journeyman Certification (or equivalent experience)
- 3+ years of hands-on experience with large mining equipment (CAT, Komatsu, John Deere, Hitachi)
- Advanced troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
- Superior mechanical aptitude
- Commitment to safety and teamwork
- Able to pass a respiratory fit test, meet fitness standards, and handle 50 lbs
- Clean Driver's Abstract and Advanced Class 5 License with Air Brakes
