Morrin School is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Educational Assistant to support students within both the classroom setting and the school's hockey program. This 0.7 FTE position will work full days, 6 hours per day, from September through March and will provide support to students individually and in small groups with classroom learning activities, reinforce instruction as directed by the teacher, assist students with independent work while monitoring progress, and support behavior management strategies. Responsibilities will also include supervising students in classrooms, hallways, playgrounds, during arrival and dismissal, and at school activities, as well as assisting with observation, documentation, reporting, and, where required, supporting students with personal care needs.
As part of Morrin School's programming, the Educational Assistant will support the school's hockey program under the supervision and direction of a certificated teacher. Duties will include assisting with on-ice sessions by helping facilitate drills and activities focused on skill development such as skating mechanics, shooting accuracy, puck control, edge work, and position-specific techniques for students in Grades 1–11. The role will also support the implementation of teacher-designed off-ice training activities that promote fitness, confidence, and skill progression. This aspect of the assignment is supportive in nature, with the supervising teacher maintaining primary responsibility for program planning and instruction.
Applicants must possess a minimum of a high school diploma, with preference given to candidates who have post-secondary training in a human services or related field. Experience or background in hockey is considered an asset, particularly for individuals who have played hockey at a high level or who have experience coaching or training youth in hockey. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong organizational and time management skills, excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, and the ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative team environment.
