Junior Legal Counsel

Key Responsibilities:
Assist with regulatory applications, submissions, filings, and related proceedings before the Public Utilities Board and other administrative tribunals.
Conducts legal and regulatory research and prepares memoranda, opinions, briefing materials, evidence, and written submissions to support legal and regulatory matters.
Coordinates responses to Information Requests and works with internal stakeholders to gather, review, and organize required inputs.
Assistance in drafting and reviewing contracts, agreements, internal policies, procedures, and governance documentation.
Provides legal support to internal clients on corporate, commercial, administrative, regulatory, and policy-related initiatives.
Supports dispute resolution and litigation matters, including document preparation and coordination with external counsel.
What We’re Looking For:
Strong legal research, analytical, drafting, and written communication skills, with the ability to prepare clear and well-structured legal documents.
Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and develop knowledge of regulatory frameworks and utility operations over time.
Strong interpersonal and presentation skills, with the ability to work collaboratively and effectively with internal stakeholders, external parties, management, employees, and multi-disciplinary teams.
What You’ll Need:
Bachelor of Laws (LL.B. or J.D.) from a recognized university.
Member or eligible for membership in the Law Society of Newfoundland and Labrador.
One (1) to three (3) years of experience as legal counsel or articling experience with exposure to regulatory, administrative, or corporate law.
Experience with regulatory proceedings, administrative tribunals, or public sector/utility environments is an asset.
