Overview
We are seeking a skilled Drainage Plow Operator/ Crew Leader to join our team. This role involves leading drainage installation projects, operating heavy equipment, and overseeing crew activities to ensure efficient and safe completion of tasks. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical knowledge, experience with various types of heavy machinery, and leadership abilities. Duties
- Operate drainage plows and other heavy equipment such as excavators and backhoes, to install drainage systems effectively.
- Lead and supervise a crew, coordinating daily tasks and ensuring project timelines are met.
- Perform routine maintenance and inspections on equipment, including troubleshooting when necessary.
- Use hand tools and power tools for installation, repairs, and adjustments of drainage components.
- Manage staff and ensure safety protocols are followed.
- Ensure all work complies with safety standards and company policies, including proper use of personal protective equipment.
- Maintain accurate documentation of project progress, equipment usage, and safety inspections.
- Train crew members on equipment operation, safety procedures, and best practices.
Qualifications
- Proven experience operating heavy equipment such as excavators, and backhoes. Experience with drainage plows considered an asset.
- Mechanical knowledge with the ability to troubleshoot issues and perform basic repairs.
- Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, and rigging/ tie down techniques
- Prior leadership or supervisory experience leading a crew in construction or drainage projects is preferred.
- Strong understanding of safety protocols related to heavy machinery operation and construction sites.
- Ability to read technical drawings and project plans accurately.
- Excellent communication skills for coordinating with team members.
- Valid driver’s license with clean driving record preferred; ability to operate large equipment safely is essential. Class 1A and Class 3A licenses are considered assets.
This position is integral to the successful completion of drainage projects while maintaining a safe work environment through expert equipment operation and team leadership.
Pay: $27.00-$31.00 per hour
